John Shin is a Research Program Coordinator who will be supporting Nicholas Reed on the ENHANCE Study, which is a study of hearing loss and health care outcomes. In May 2021, John graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in epidemiological and biostatistical methods for public health and clinical research at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As a former Scholars in Hearing and Aging Research Program (SHARP) fellow, John worked with Jennifer Deal on a project looking at hearing loss and incident dementia in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study.
Before arriving at the Cochlear Center, John spent two years at the National Institute on Aging as a post-baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award Fellow in Dr. Susan Resnick's lab. Working with Murat Bilgel, John implemented a retrospective study design looking at the associations between amyloid, brain atrophy, and cognition in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging. John received his Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University in May 2018.
